Questions people ask
What is Haven?
Haven is a place where you can talk to someone about anything. It connects you with real people, called Companions, who are actually there to talk, not just reply. You might want to celebrate something and have no one awake to tell. You might want to argue about a terrible movie you just watched. You might want to tell someone about an idea you can’t stop thinking about, or talk through a decision that’s been sitting in your head for days. You might just want to hear someone laugh at your joke. Haven is where that conversation happens. Real people. Real conversation. Not a chatbot. Not a helpline. Just two people, talking.
How does Haven work?
You open the app, pick what kind of conversation you’re in the mood for, and browse real people who are available right now. Every Companion has a profile with their photo, a short intro about who they are, and a voice note you can listen to before you decide. Found someone interesting? Message them or start a call. The whole thing takes less than a minute. No forms to fill. No waiting to be matched. You choose who you talk to, and the conversation starts.
Is Haven for me?
Have you ever had something you wanted to say out loud but didn’t have anyone to say it to? Maybe you just got back from a trip and want to tell someone about the strangest thing that happened. Maybe you’re stuck on a decision and want to think out loud with someone who isn’t already involved. Maybe it’s 1 AM, you’re wide awake, and you just want a conversation. Haven isn’t only for people going through something hard. It’s for anyone who wants to talk and doesn’t have that conversation available right now.
Can I talk about anything, or is it only for emotional support?
Anything. Emotional conversations are welcome, but they’re one reason people use Haven, not the only reason. Some people come to talk about a cricket match that’s driving them crazy. Some want to practice explaining an idea before a big presentation. Some want to tell someone about a song they just discovered. Some want to talk through a fight they had. Some just want company while they eat dinner alone in a new city. There’s no script, no expected topic, no right or wrong reason. The conversation is yours.
Who am I actually talking to?
Real people. Every Companion on Haven is a verified individual. Not a bot, not an AI, not a random stranger with no context. Before you talk to anyone, you can see their photo, read about who they are and what they enjoy talking about, and listen to a short voice introduction they’ve recorded. You get a real sense of the person before you say a word. Some are natural storytellers. Some are the kind of people who ask the right questions. Some just have a way of making you feel comfortable. You’ll know who you’re choosing.
Do I get to pick who I talk to, or is it random?
You pick. Haven suggests people based on what you’re looking for, but the final choice is always yours. Browse profiles, listen to voice introductions, read about them, and go with whoever feels right for the conversation you want right now. Nobody is assigned to you. You’re never dropped into a call with someone you know nothing about. Think of it less like being matched and more like choosing who to sit next to.
Will the other person know who I am?
Not unless you want them to. When you use Haven, your identity stays private by default. You show up with an avatar and a display name you choose. That’s all the other person sees. You decide how much or how little to share during the conversation. Some people open up quickly. Some keep it light. Both are completely fine. The point is that it’s your call.
Is it safe to talk to someone I don't know on Haven?
Every Companion on Haven goes through identity verification before they can join, including document checks and a video selfie. The Haven team reviews every application personally before approving anyone. Both sides agree to community guidelines before any conversation begins. Your identity is protected, your conversations are private, and if anything ever feels off, support is available inside the app. Haven is built so that talking to someone new doesn’t have to feel like a risk.
Is this like therapy?
No. Haven is not therapy, counseling, or a substitute for professional mental-health care. There are no therapists, no clinical assessments, no diagnoses. What Haven offers is conversation. The kind where someone is genuinely present, actually listening, and talking back. Some of those conversations might touch on something heavy, and that’s okay. But Haven is a place to talk to a real person, not a place to receive treatment.
Is Haven a dating app?
No. Haven is not built for dating, matchmaking, or romantic connections. You come to Haven because you want a conversation, not a relationship. The whole point is the conversation itself. What was said, what was heard, what it felt like to talk to someone who was actually there.
