Become a Haven Companion
You're the friend everyone calls at 2 AM.Now that means something.
Real conversations. Flexible hours. Meaningful work that pays.
What a Companion Actually Does
A Haven companion receives conversation requests from speakers people who need someone to talk to. Your job is simple and rare: listen.
You don't advise. You don't diagnose. You don't coach. You hold space. You stay present. You let someone feel heard possibly for the first time in weeks.
Three principles every companion follows
1
Welcome without assumptions.
You don't know their story. Let them tell it or not. Either is fine.
2
Stay curious, not corrective.
Ask questions that open, not questions that lead. "What felt hardest about that?" not "Have you tried..."
3
Close with calm and care.
End every conversation warmly. The speaker should leave feeling lighter than when they arrived.
Typical conversation length: 15–30 minutes. Format: text or voice. You choose what you're comfortable with.
What a Companion Is NOT
Not a therapist. You don't need a psychology degree. You need patience and presence.
Not a counselor. You don't diagnose or treat. You listen.
Not an advice-giver. Unless the speaker explicitly asks for your perspective, your role is to reflect not redirect.
Not on-call. You go online when you want. Offline when you don't. No shifts. No penalties.
Not emotionally responsible for the speaker. You hold space. You don't carry weight. Haven has escalation protocols for anything that goes beyond a conversation.
A Day in the Life
What being a Haven companion actually looks like.
9:30 PM
You finished dinner. You have some time. You open Haven and switch to Online.
9:35 PM
A conversation request arrives. A speaker wants to talk about feeling stuck at work. You accept.
9:36 PM
The conversation starts. You listen. You ask a few questions. He says things he hasn't said to anyone.
10:00 PM
The conversation ends. He rates you 5 stars. Your earnings for the session are credited to your wallet.
10:05 PM
Another request. You accept. This one just wants to vent about a family argument. 15 minutes.
10:25 PM
You're done for the night. Switch to Offline. Two conversations. ~40 minutes. Meaningful work. Money in your wallet.
No commute. No boss. No script. Just conversations that actually matter.

Who Should Apply
You don't need a degree. You need these:
- You're patient and non-judgmental even when someone's story is messy or confusing
- You're comfortable with silence not every pause needs filling
- You can listen without needing to fix presence over problem-solving
- You speak Hindi, English, or both
- You have a stable internet connection and a quiet space to talk
- You can commit to at least 5 hours per week
If people already come to you when they need to talk Haven is where that becomes meaningful, flexible work.
Training & Onboarding
From application to your first conversation.
Step 01
Apply
Share your language, availability, and why listening matters to you. Takes about 5 minutes.
Step 02
Verify
Complete identity verification. Quick, secure, one-time. This ensures every companion on Haven is a real, verified person.
Step 03
Train
Complete Haven's companion training programme. You'll learn active listening techniques, conversation boundaries, how to handle sensitive topics, and when to escalate. This is what separates Haven companions from "just chatting" you're trained to hold space with intention.
Step 04
Go Live
Set your availability, switch online, and receive your first conversation request. You choose when your first conversation begins.
Timeline: Application to going live typically takes 48-72 hours. Not weeks. Not months.
Safety & Support for Companions
You're holding space for people. We hold space for you.
If a speaker is in crisis
Haven has built-in escalation protocols. If a conversation involves safety concerns, the system detects safety keywords and auto-escalates. You are never expected to handle a crisis alone. Our safety team responds within 2 hours for P0 safety issues.
If a speaker is abusive
One tap to report. One tap to end the conversation. Haven reviews every report and takes action including permanent removal of abusive speakers. Your safety and dignity come first.
Your emotional wellbeing
Listening is meaningful work, but it can be heavy. Haven encourages companions to set boundaries, take breaks, and go offline when they need to recharge. You're not a machine. You're a human who chose to show up for other humans and that requires care for yourself too.
Your identity is protected
Speakers never see your real name, location, or any personal details. You choose a display name and a conversation style that's all speakers know. Your Haven identity stays on Haven.
